Where to sail in the Seychelles
The Seychelles are a year-round tropical charter: bases on Mahé (Eden Island) and Praslin, and a week takes in Praslin, La Digue, Curieuse and the small islands of the inner archipelago in legs of 10–30 miles. The fleet is almost entirely catamarans. Two trade-wind seasons: May to October the south-easterly blows, fresher and drier; November to March the north-westerly, calmer and more humid; April and October–November are the transitions and the calmest. Some anchorages are in marine parks with an entry fee.

When is the best time to charter a yacht in the Seychelles?
The Seychelles are sailed all year round. The calmest months are April, October and November, between the trade-wind seasons. From May to September the south-easterly blows, fresher and drier; from December to March the north-westerly, calmer and more humid. The fleet is almost all catamarans, booked 4–8 months ahead.
Can I charter a yacht in the Seychelles with a skipper or crew?
Yes. Almost every boat in the selection can be taken with a hired skipper, and a cook or hostess can be added on request. The crew is paid by the day on top of the boat price, and their food on board is on you. Without a skipper's licence and a VHF certificate, a skipper is mandatory. The RYC manager books the crew together with the boat. In the Seychelles many crews sail with a skipper and a hostess-cook: the passages between the inner islands cross open water and reefs, and a local skipper knows the anchorages.
Which sailing route should I pick in the Seychelles?
Sailing routes in the Seychelles, planned day by day: “Mahé — La Digue”, 7 days, about 80 nautical miles; “Mahé — Silhouette”, 7 days, about 60 nautical miles; “Praslin — Curieuse — Aride”, 7 days, about 55 nautical miles. Each route page has the legs, miles and overnight stops.
How far ahead should I book?
In the Mediterranean (Turkey, Greece, Croatia), you can catch hot deals 2–6 weeks ahead. For the Caribbean, the Seychelles and other exotic destinations, book early, 4–8 months ahead: fleets there are smaller and last-minute discounts almost never come up.
What's included in the boat price?
Just the boat, for a week. Usually paid separately: transit log and final cleaning, fuel, marina fees, the security deposit (or deposit insurance), a skipper, cook and hostess if you need them, and extras (SUP board, on-board Wi-Fi, coffee machine, child safety netting).
Do I need a licence to charter a yacht?
For a bareboat charter (no skipper or crew provided), yes: a skipper's licence and, as a rule, a VHF radio certificate. Without a licence, we add a skipper, paid separately from the boat price.
Why do all charters run Saturday to Saturday?
99% of charter fleets worldwide work this way: the boat comes back on Friday evening and goes out to the next crew on Saturday morning. Other changeover days are possible in low season, by arrangement. In some destinations (the Caribbean, Cuba, France) you can add days beyond the week: +1, 2, 3 or 4 days.
What is the security deposit and how is it paid?
The security deposit is your insurance excess in case of damage, usually €1,000–8,000. It is taken at the base at check-in on a credit card issued outside Russia: charter companies don't accept Russian cards or debit cards. With a hired skipper the deposit terms may be different, and not every charter company accepts a cash deposit or deposit insurance: check with the manager.

Where the numbers come from and how to cite them

You may cite the figures on this page with a link to it; every month and country is in the CSV and on the Prices page.
