Where to sail in Croatia
Croatia is a thousand islands along the Dalmatian coast and the densest marina network in the Mediterranean. Bases in Split, Trogir, Kaštela, Dubrovnik and Pula; the classic week from Split takes in Brač, Hvar, Vis and Korčula in legs of 15–30 miles. Nights are spent in ACI marinas, on paid mooring buoys in the bays, or at anchor. Winds are moderate with an afternoon breeze in summer; only the bora and the jugo in the shoulder seasons are a concern. Season May to October, with peak prices in July–August; September is warm and berths are cheaper.

When is the best time to charter a yacht in Croatia?
Croatia's season runs May to October. July and August are the peak, with the highest prices; in June and September the sea is warm and boats and berths cost less. May and October are the shoulder months: cooler, with the odd bora or jugo, but the lowest prices of the season. From November to March most of the fleet is out of the water.
Can I charter a yacht in Croatia with a skipper or crew?
Yes. Almost every boat in the selection can be taken with a hired skipper, and a cook or hostess can be added on request. The crew is paid by the day on top of the boat price, and their food on board is on you. Without a skipper's licence and a VHF certificate, a skipper is mandatory. The RYC manager books the crew together with the boat.
Which one-week route should I pick in Croatia?
One-week routes in Croatia, planned day by day: “Split — Hvar”, 8 days, about 150 nautical miles; “Pula — Rab”, 7 days, about 160 nautical miles; “Dubrovnik — Korčula”, 7 days, about 115 nautical miles; “Šibenik — Kornati”, 7 days, about 95 nautical miles; “Zadar — Dugi Otok”, 7 days, about 85 nautical miles; “Trogir — Šolta”, 7 days, about 90 nautical miles. Each route page has the legs, miles and overnight stops.
How far ahead should I book?
In the Mediterranean (Turkey, Greece, Croatia), you can catch hot deals 2–6 weeks ahead. For the Caribbean, the Seychelles and other exotic destinations, book early, 4–8 months ahead: fleets there are smaller and last-minute discounts almost never come up.
What's included in the boat price?
Just the boat, for a week. Usually paid separately: transit log and final cleaning, fuel, marina fees, the security deposit (or deposit insurance), a skipper, cook and hostess if you need them, and extras (SUP board, on-board Wi-Fi, coffee machine, child safety netting).
Do I need a licence to charter a yacht?
For a bareboat charter (no skipper or crew provided), yes: a skipper's licence and, as a rule, a VHF radio certificate. Without a licence, we add a skipper, paid separately from the boat price.
Why do all charters run Saturday to Saturday?
99% of charter fleets worldwide work this way: the boat comes back on Friday evening and goes out to the next crew on Saturday morning. Other changeover days are possible in low season, by arrangement. In some destinations (the Caribbean, Cuba, France) you can add days beyond the week: +1, 2, 3 or 4 days.
What is the security deposit and how is it paid?
The security deposit is your insurance excess in case of damage, usually €1,000–8,000. It is taken at the base at check-in on a credit card issued outside Russia: charter companies don't accept Russian cards or debit cards. With a hired skipper the deposit terms may be different, and not every charter company accepts a cash deposit or deposit insurance: check with the manager.
